If you have older parents or are older, Vita Coco or some brand of coconut water every day is an especially good preventive of heat related illnesses during the summer. It is a natural electrolyte that prevents dehydration and hyponatremia. Athletes also need an electrolyte replacement in the heat.
It's simply good practice to drink this "natural supplement" every day. No added sugar or chemicals and a boatload of potassium. Personally I have to watch sugar intake so I drink the plain type but there are some tasty flavors.
You can usually find it in grocery stores but lately, they cannot keep up with demand. So make sure to order some so you have it on hand. Here in the South, it's getting hot already and I can tell you that drinking some of this before and after a run has made a huge difference in how I feel. Lately many have mentioned that it's great for weight control. That's a nice side effect.
