Sports Med BlogIt's a pain in the Foot
Oh the aging process - gotta love it!I've been suffering from pain in both feet for months, mostly from the toes back to the middle of my feet. Saw my GP and he took x-rays, prescribed an anti-inflammatory (etodolac) and recommended I see a foot specialist. The foot specialist could not find any significant issues other than me having "FFS" (flat feet syndrome - you'd know if you ever saw me walk up a hill barefoot!), and prescribed orthotics for both feet. The Orthotics are manufactured by Allied Labs under the supersport product line. With that name, naturally I was looking forward to ennhanced athletic performance or at least be able to return to my normal walking/running routine. Maybe it's the medicine? After a round of wearing the "supersports" I had them shaved down a bit as they were causing pain when walking but I will tell you at the end of a full day of wearing them, my feet do feel better but there are still days they feel awful especially after a couple of hours of walking in running shoes. So maybe the pain is related to cholesterol medicine I've been taking? - Lipitor for a couple of years, and fenofibrate for about six months. I've gone cold turkey on these for the last week, but no change in the foot pain yet. If there are any suggestions or other product recommendations I should try, please post a response to this post. |
