Sports Med BlogConfessions of a wanna-be athlete
I’m actually one of those people who enjoys exercising, but wouldn’t call myself an athlete. Most of my aerobic involves a spinning bike, jogging stroller that I’ve never actually jogged behind, or anything mixed martial arts. So here I am in my 30’s striving to be a self proclaimed athlete Mission 1: RunningSo when I’m not speed walking behind my jogging stroller, I’m actually a Holistic Health Counselor, I help people heal their bodies with food and encourage regular exercising. I even have a personal trainer that I can send right to their houses, no excuses! But, my personal trainer wants more, needs more… she went and got all boot camp on me. Now in addition to at-home personal training, she’s doing group training, and I drank the kool-aid. I’ve never been a runner, I even had a slight phobia about it. I can’t explain it, maybe because I always hear runners getting attacked or childhood memories of the school fitness test. Either way, I started running, and I’m quite good. The group training keeps me motivated, running in .5 mile increments followed by some interval training keeps it interesting, and with bathing suit season fast approaching keeps me going. I think I’ll keep running in regular rotation. Mission 1 complete. |
