Benefits/Features: key muscle group support, increased endurance, shorter recovery times after exercise, lactic acid buildup prevention

CW-X Conditioning Tights in shorts and 3/4 length. Apparel goes high tech. CW-X tights are high performance compression shorts

Established in Japan in 1991, CW-X bases its designs on the human body's motion during exercise. These are ideal for running, cycling and climbing. They do not, however, have the chamois bike pad liner typical of bike shorts.

What makes CW-X tights special

Get CW-X Conditioning tights- men and women

Conditioning Shorts work by combining two unique zones of stretch material. The main part, the body, is made with Coolmax that has a 4-way stretch Lycra blend. This provides targeted muscle support and moisture wicking.

The treat to your leg muscles is the 2-way stretch conditioning web that encircles your leg’s key muscle groups. If you look at the design, you’ll notice they mimic the muscles of your leg. While it does look cool, this is actually not integrated into the shorts to look pretty but rather to support and benefit your muscle groups.

While stretching lengthwise, the conditioning web holds muscles securely in place laterally, which reduces vibration and increases comfort. These are not your typical compression shorts but an engineering model that preceded the speedo swimsuit designs that made a splash on the world scene at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Benefits include increased endurance, shorter recovery times after exercise less lactic acid build up following exercise.

The CW-X Categories of compression

CW-X has different categories of compression designed for different levels of endurance training.

Conditioning= lighter compression (Conditioning Shorts are featured in this review listing.)
Expert= more than conditioning, less than pro
Pro= turbo-charged compression-marathon runners often like these the best

There are also new ones, Stabilyx and ventilator. Which one is for you is both a matter of preference and your sport and the number of minutes or hours you spend riding, running or climbing.

Features and styles

  • They come in knee length shorts, capris and full length tights for both men and women. I’ve seen hard core “I’ll never wear tights men” cave in a heartbeat
  • Double-reinforced waistband with flat draw-chord and key pocket hidden inside
  • The Patented Conditioning Web® extends from the sides of the hip, stabilizing the pelvis and providing support to the lower back and gluteus maximus
  • In full length and capris tights, CW-X patented Conditioning Web holds together the muscles and ligaments to stabilize the knee joint.
  • Double-reinforced waistband with flat draw-chord and key pocket hidden inside
  • Machine wash and dry
  • Conditioning shorts run true to size, X-S to X-L

CW-X Conditioning wear is designed to provide a compression fit. To obtain maximum performance choose your size based on your waist size as well as height. For example, if you are a 6'3" male with a 32" waist, choose a Med instead of L or X-L. CW-X functionality is maximized with a hugging fit.

I love these shorts

The conditioning is plenty of compression for me. I would wear the long tights but they are not easy to pull over my ankle brace. I don’t suffer from sore muscles and don’t end up with muscle pulls since I started wearing these. They wear like iron and last a long time. I do hang them dry. I wear them in really hot weather and I don’t find them hot.

Some of the men I recommended these said to me, “hell would freeze over before they wore tights”. A few muscle pulls later and they have converted, deciding that they were man enough to wear tights. The popularity of bike shorts makes them more tolerable to males since they look like bike shorts. You can thank Lance Armstrong for that.
