Product Resources

The ASO Speed Lacer ankle brace provides the same support as the lace up version, only it's faster to lace up. It is called a stabilizing orthosis and keeps a weak ankle from turning over and getting injured or re-injured.

ASO Speed Lacer is great for all sports including tennis, running, soccer, basketball, football and volleyball.

The ASO Speed Lacer brace is the same structure as the lace up style, only this one is faster to lace up. There may be a slight difference in how custom you can make the fit but I find it works as well. I've personally used the ASO brace for running for 8 years.

ASO Features

ASO Speed Lacer

Prevents ankle rollovers and provides stability. It is the original gold standard of the stabilizing orthosis category. The figure 8 lace up with additional velcro closure at the top to maintain ankle stability. Physical therapists often recommend for sports following an injury. It comes with stays for additional support if needed.

Get the Lace Up ASO Ankle Brace (not speed lacer)

The lace up aso brace comes with stays for additional support if needed.

Two recommended athletic ankle braces for support during vigorous athletic activity. See the Bauerfield Review.

  • Figure 8 straps provide a good custom fit
  • Will fit in any type of shoe
  • Speed Lacer closure (also a lace up version)
  • Keeps foot in neutral position
  • Nylon which endures well and does breathe

Orthosis is just another way to say Orthotic, which refers to a branch of medical science that deals with the support of weak or ineffective joints/muscles.

Put simply, an ASO ankle brace is designed to support the ankle joint in a way in which other ankle braces won't. It will prevent your ankle from turning over and getting sprained or damaged. To insure that this keeps happening, you need to replace your brace every 6 months or so depending on how much and how often you use it

Styles, Sizes, types of ASO Speed Lacers.

They come in black or white. The styles with "stays" for extra support are only availble in the the lace up version and not the speed lacer style. For runners, the stays are probably unnecessary in most cases. But sports requiring a lot of side to side movement like tennis, you might require it. I know tennis players who use this brace and do not have the stays, however.

It allows you to participate in sports while protecting and strengthening a weak ankle.

To protect a bum ankle, you do have to take the time to put it on because it won't help you if it's sitting on the shelf. And the one time you decide to forgo the brace is the time you'll end up back at physical therapy nursing an injury and out of your game for a while.

A physical therapist will often recommend use of the brace for one year after an involved surgery or injury. Sometimes, it's necessary to wear it always. I'm in the latter category. I can't run without it. And if I didn't have it, I'd not be running any more. To order by shoe size see the chart below. I wear a 9.5 running shoe and a Medium brace.

I love the speed lacer. Although I've used the regular lace up one as well. The price is more of a bargain now than it used to be, too. But it really does keep your ankle from going over. I've had mine start to go over and it just pops right back up. That has happened more than once. It's not comfortable right at first but you really do get used to it. Even in the summer.

I'm embarased to say that I did not know how to put this on. It really is not rocket science. It works and I still wish I did not have to wear it but if i don't, i would not be able to play basketball after my football season.

This ankle brace worked great!

This helped me playing tennis. I had to wear it for a year to prevent reinjuring my ankle. I used the speed lacer because it was fast to put on. our team would have had to forfeit the doubles tournament but since I wore this, I was able to participate.
