Athletic Tape/Wraps

Athletic Tape/Wraps To enhance the 'stick' and adhesion of athletic tapes such as kinesiology tapes, athletic tape, foam underwrap and undertape, elastic tapes. For prevention of blisters and to increase durability and effectiveness of a taping.

No one likes to end up nursing a boatload of blisters. Spray Adherent creates a sticky surface to help adhesive tape, foam underwrap, kinesio tape and elastic wraps adhere to the skin which prevents tape from slipping.

Get Mueller Tuffner Pre Tape Spray. This is also a quality pre-tape spray

Spray adherent has been around forever. It doesn’t go back as far as Cro Magnon man, but it has been around for decades and still works. If you have sweaty feet, this is particularly important to take time for this step.

And if you've looked at any videos on you tube about taping and seen the athletic trainer spraying something, it's probably this stuff.  They buy it by the case for locker rooms.

Tuf-Skin comes in aerosol and non aerosol spray and you can use it with

The less tape slips, the more protection, less chafing and fewer blisters you will have.

Spray adherent will not stain clothing or skin and the non-Aerosol pump variety provides a more controlled application to reduce overspray and help prevent irritation. However, aerosol is preferred by many, so just choose based on your preference.

Preparation

  • Before taping, it is helpful to shave the skin to remove all hair at the site. This improves tape adhesion and reduces the irritation and buildup of tape residue that can cause infection. Follow this by applying an antiseptic.
  • Tuf-Skin Ingredients

    Isopropyl alcohol, isobutane, resin, benzoin

  • Before taping, clean fee of natural oils, dust and dirt. Rubbing alcohol works well and dries fast and you can get wipes and store wipes in a gym bag.
  • Next,  apply the tape adherent to areas that need taping and allow to dry.
  • Then apply tape based on your needs.
  • Remember: You can prevent blisters by overlapping the tape a half width on each turn and by not producing wrinkles by forcing the tape to go where it does not want to go. Neatness counts.

It doesn't necessarily hit all the criteria you'd apply for taping products but it heps taping products reach maximum potential for injury and blister prevention and healing. So while alone it does not offer support, it maximizes the support of support tapes and improves the effectiveness.

It's been around a while, it hasn't changed much but if it ain't broke, why fix it?
