Works for: Injury prevention such as muscle pulls and plantar fasciitis prevention

You might be ailing from something else that would require stretching. But when several people told me that yoga was the key to beating and preventing plantar fasciitis, I had to conduct some interviews and get to the bottom of it. I have done only part of a dvd for two days and in combination with kinesio tape and it has made a huge difference.

The Ultimate Stretch Yoga Workout, all levels, with Ana Brett, Ravi Singh.

It felt great. And I'm not a yoga fan or a yoga pro.

Get the Yoga Stretch DVD

The yoga and kinesio tape: It’s the pure gold plantar fasciitis combo.

The downward dog, in particular, beats any towel pulling stretch I’ve tried so far. It seems that getting the full body stretch is what really does the trick. Kundalini yoga just works the muscles of the body and opens things up. I don’t know how else to describe it.

I like this dvd because it had chapters and I could do one chapter and not an entire 60 minutes. As a runner who has never gotten into yoga, I’m not ready for an hour of it. I really just wanted one chapter before going on an easy run. And I did moves I learned when I got back. No pain. None. Nada. Zilch.

I did used to do a lot of stretching. In recent years, it somehow dropped out of my routine and I have to admit having fallen victim to more muscle related injuries as a result. I’m not a full-blown yoga fan, but I do like this dvd.

This yoga dvd just makes you feel good afterwards. They say that the flexibility enhances energy flow in the body and I did not read that until after I did some of the routines. But that describes how I felt. I am not a vegetarian, tree-hugging Birkenstock-wearing hippie. At my gym, there are a couple of body builders, one of whom is a rough and tough police officer, who take yoga to improve flexibility and prevent athletic injury.

I don’t know the definitions of all the moves. But I was able to follow most of them.

It is good for back problems and pain as well but this review is focused mainly on plantar fasciitis and how it has miraculously helped my issue. After two sessions, one chapter that I repeated in the evening, I felt the benefits. This is a great dvd if you're really wanting to focus on lower body issues and core strength. However, just be careful if you are new to yoga.

Take it slow

If you are not a yoga pro, I would not recommend doing the entire dvd at first. I would do one chapter. And call it a day. Really. You just need to ease into it. It will not be beneficial if you dive into it with no caution.

This did the trick for the plantar fasciitis

I did not love yoga. But now that my arch is not in pain, I am seeing the benefits. My lower back feels better, too. I guess I had a dull ache but it didn't register until it felt better. I like that this is broken up in chapters so I can have bit sized chunks. I'm from the old school of wanting to really sweat to feel like I have worked out. But I felt energized. You can't depend on kinesio alone. The combination of the kinesiology tape and this dvd is a real winner.
