Tights have come a long way in the last 10 years. The CW-X Stabilyx tights are part of a new era in compression garments that revitalize muscles and keep them stable during runs.
For long tights, the preference is CW-X Stabilyx over the CW-X Expert tights (http://sportsmedinfo.net/running-tights-reviews/67-cw-x-conditioning-tights-shorts). While I personally love the expert tights in the three quarter and as shorts, the expert cw-x long tights just don’t stay up as well as the Stabilyx.
Run longer with the CW-X Stabilyx Tights and avoid the usual aches and pains
First, CW-X Stabilyx Tights offer targeted support to protect your lower back and core area so you can run strong the whole time. These running tights integrate the CW-X Conditioning Web which helps support muscles and ligaments to stabilize the knee joint. Furthermore, CW-X Stabilyx tights are ergonomically designed to follow the muscle groups. This support keeps your muscles energized so your legs don’t get as tired on long runs.
What’s more is that you don’t get as sore after you do a long run so recovery is faster. Most runners tell me that they really do the trick and you can feel a difference particularly after the ten mile mark. I don’t run nearly that far on a regular basis and find them to have a “massage” sort of feel after only 2 miles.
CWX made these running tights with 80% Coolmax so you don’t get cold from your sweat since the unique webbed fabric pulls moisture away from your skin to the outside of the tight. Flat seam construction prevents chafing and inner thigh blisters. Basically, they make you feel more together.
Sizing of CW-X Stabilyx Tights
If you are in between sizes, order the next size up. See picture in upper right hand corner of this listing for sizing info specific to CW-X Tights.
These ain’t your momma's tights. They feel VERY snug when you first put them on – particularly the first wearing. You may think you have ordered a size that is way too small but low and behold they mold to you. This is pretty frustrating but you have to be patient. Basically, you have to scrunch them down light pantyhose. You’ll need to jump around and wriggle a bit to get them adjusted. Most felt that once they were on, they needed to get going right away.
Wearers noted that despite having to wriggle them on that they did stay up better than other tights.
Washing CW-X Stabilyx Tights
They are quality construction and can last as many as 3 years if you wash them but do not put them in the dryer. I have had mine 4 years. They are just now feeling like they need to be replaced.
The main new feature of the CW-X 2011 is the 360 degree reflective which are 4 strategically placed reflective flash strips on the tights that show up at night and in the early AM during those early morning or night runs.
The Insulator tights can keep you warm in 15 degree (Fahrenheit!) weather.
Cost of CW-X Stabilyx Tights
These tights are pricy for tights but they can last up to 3 years if you don’t throw them in the dryer. Hang dry is the key to longevity. If you don’t need the reflective feature added to the 2011 tights, you can get the older versions. The reflectivity is the only thing that was changed on the newer Stabilyx tights. This feature would only be necessary if you run dusk, at night or early morning when there isn’t much light. If you run in the daytime, then you can get the older versions and save some dough. You won’t find them easily. Online and specialty running stores carry them.
So if you see a discrepancy in price, do note that this is due to one being a newer version with the reflective stripes for night running and the other being an older version that is constructed the same was as the new pairs.
